As far as I can tell, I've done the installation correctly. I've been able to run the C demos a-ok. My trouble is with the Fortran demos. The ProFortran compiler uses the first 31 characters of the subroutine name. The compiler appears to have transformed the name to _aqtAddTransformedImageWithBitma_. In Octave we can use the following: 1) gplot ranges expression .... 2) plot (x, y, fmt ....) 3) sombrero (25) which calls executable file sombrero.m with main command mesh (x,y,z) In Gnuplot we use: 4) load '' which has plotting commands like plot sin(x) and this gnuplot plotting command is apparently different from any plotting commands in Octave. And a demo is loaded rather than just called by its name. I guess that above has really little to do with Aquaterm but I'd like to know when we might get GUI commands. I should ask an Otave-list but when I've tried to get back to the AquaTerm-user list URL on the web where I originally posted my question, I get warnings about security failures or that I don't have access and I don't remember the path I first used to get to the appropriate URL for the AuqaTerm-user list.
